Employer Branding in the AI era

07 Oct 2026 by Sonja

As AI changes how we work, talents are changing how they choose employers. Today’s candidates are looking for genuine transparency and clear answers on career stability, learning, and workplace culture. Here is a practical guide to updating your employer branding activities and hiring strategy in the AI era.

Succeeding in AI transformation in organizations is so much more than adopting new technology and tools, it’s about the people, culture and leadership, and how well change is managed at every step of the way.

Employer branding is shifting from capturing attention to building trust. As AI reshapes how work gets done, candidates are looking for real honesty, clarity, and reassurance about the future of their careers. Job seekers are also using AI to search, apply, tailor their resumes and prepare for interviews.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by decisions and wondering, “Do I need to consider AI’s impact on employer branding, too?”, don’t worry. We’ve compiled a practical guide on where to start:

Employer value proposition

An EVP is a summary of reasons to join your company. To hold value, it needs to be authentic and rooted in real employee experience. It must be detailed enough for candidates and current employees to get an answer to the question: Is this the right workplace for me?

With AI in the mix, candidates and employees are asking new questions:

  • Can I use my skills while continuing to learn?
  • Will I be allowed to experiment and fail?
  • How will leadership support me during transformation?
  • What does AI implementation actually look like day-to-day?
  • Will my role still exist here in the future?

Trust and transparency determine how organizational changes are experienced, how credible leadership remains, and how committed employees stay during times of uncertainty. As your organization evolves, now is the time to ask out loud: Is our EVP still up to date?

Career pages

In addition to building visibility, you need to consider what does the candidate find about your company when they are using AI tools for searching jobs, thinking about new opportunities and comparing options. Information is more accessible than ever – the question is, what does AI find about and tell about your company as an employer?

Start by reviewing your career page content to ensure it is accurate and up to date. Next, check your analytics – you might be surprised by your traffic sources. To test your AI presence, ask an LLM: “What is (your company name) like as an employer?” We also recommend asking about your top competitors while you’re at it.

AI is changing how companies gain visibility. The winners in this new environment won’t be the organizations with the biggest marketing budgets, but those that are authentic, credible, and human.

Employer branding marketing

Employer branding is shifting from capturing attention to building trust.

Employer branding marketing is no longer only about building interest or running eye-catching campaign ads. Candidates are increasingly skeptical of polished corporate messaging. They want proof of your internal culture: how your teams actually work with AI tools, where you’ve succeeded, and where you are still figuring things out.

And we can’t repeat this enough: employer branding starts from inside the company. Employers need to address employee AI anxiety and upskilling opportunities internally first. Succeeding in this, or at least being honest of the bottlenecks and challenges, you can turn everyday employee learning and real organizational transformation into your strongest talent magnet.

Role descriptions and job ads

A job ad is often a candidate’s first touchpoint with your employer brand. To stand out and convince potential talent, job descriptions must evolve beyond basic task lists:

  • Honesty on AI maturity: Clearly state where your company stands in its AI journey. Are tools actively used in production, or are you still in pilot mode?
  • Clear EVP & salary ranges: State upfront why talent should choose you and what compensation to expect.
  • Focus on day-to-day impact: How AI is used and how it affects different roles, what is expected and what is encouraged? Describe how AI automates repetitive tasks to create room for growth and strategic work.
  • Value of soft skills: The skills that matter most may not always appear on a CV. Judgment, adaptability, resilience, critical thinking, curiosity, and collaboration are human strengths that become even more vital as AI handles routine execution.

Plan for future talent needs

At Talented, we are seeing a clear rise in new titles and roles, where experience with AI assisted development is becoming the new standard for senior tech talents.

If AI is involved in your recruitment process, be transparent about where and how it is used. The more honest the better, if it’s not in any way part of the process, share it too. While AI can significantly speed up time-to-fill, it should never come at the expense of candidate experience or human connection.

Ultimately, employer branding is not a series of individual marketing campaigns. It’s a long-term strategy linked to the company’s growth, built on a clear vision of the talent you need to attract and retain, and support through continuous change.
